Exhibition: An Eye for Nature

Exhibition: An Eye for Nature – Paintings and illustrations by Sean Milne
Wyeside Gallery, 4 April – 1 June 2017

This is a welcome opportunity to revisit Sean Milne’s work. Having made his home in Abergwesyn in 1979 he pursued his career spanning four decades as a wildlife and medical illustrator for many major publishers. This exhibition includes the opportunity to
see some of the original artwork for field guides to a variety of natural history subjects which have enjoyed lasting popularity, as well as his more recent work.

Sean now focuses on creating his beautifully detailed watercolour paintings inspired by the natural world around him. The driving force throughout Sean’s working life is his deep interest in nature in all its forms, and his powers of observation and keen eye for detail shine through in all his work.

Exhibition on display from 4 April to 1 June 2017.

Worlds Apart: Julia Harris, Sean Milne, Simon Lilly, Patricia Kelly

Wyeside Arts Gallery, Builth Wells, Powys
4 September 2015 – 30 September 2015

Four artists who live and work in Mid Wales, use different media and have very different styles of approach, but all take inspiration from the landscapes and people around them:

JULIA HARRIS is well known for her affectionate representations of animals and atmospheric landscapes. She draws on memories of farm life from her childhood and the inspiring, ever-changing landscape of the Epynt.

SEAN MILNE has a long career as a wildlife artist and natural history illustrator. His finely detailed work draws on the landscape surrounding him at his home in the hills of Abergwesyn.

SIMON LILLY uses photography, printmaking and sculpture to capture the interplay of the ordinary and the mysterious within the landscape. His studio overlooks the Irfon valley and the Epynt.

PATRICIA KELLY is a member of the Craft Potters Association and South Wales Potters. Her hand built ceramics and acrylic paintings observe the characters and culture within the farming community, which include insider humour and references
